Description

Hikvision DS-7104HGHI-M1 CCTV recorder

Hikvision DS-7104HGHI-M1/T is a four-channel compact DVR for a small analogue or hybrid camera system. It supports 1080p camera input with 1080p Lite recording, plus compatible audio-over-coax functions and IP-camera expansion.

Hikvision DS-7104HGHI-M1 specifications

1080p input is recorded in Lite mode

The product supports a 1080p input signal, but that does not mean full-width 1080p encoding. For a 1080p camera stream, the documented recording options include 1080p Lite and 720p Lite. Supported main-stream rates reach 25 fps in PAL or 30 fps in NTSC for those profiles.

A 720p input has its own supported recording profiles. Select the camera format and recorder setting together, then inspect recorded detail rather than relying only on the live image. HDMI display resolution is also separate from the resolution stored on disk.

Plan four BNC channels and IP expansion

The recorder has four physical analogue inputs and one default IP input. Expansion to five total IP channels uses conversion of analogue channels; these are not five additional IP cameras while retaining every BNC input. The documented IP resolution limit is 2MP.

Do not substitute specifications from the separately named DS-7104HGHI-M1/T-2K variant. The exact /T model in this listing has its own supported formats, storage capacity and firmware. Confirm the label when matching replacement equipment or planning a new installation.

Prepare Hikvision DS-7104HGHI-M1 storage and cabling

For Hikvision DS-7104HGHI-M1, select a compatible surveillance hard drive within the supported capacity. Estimate recording duration from the combined camera bitrate, recording schedule and audio settings. The SATA interface count does not indicate that a drive is included, so confirm any bundled storage before ordering.

Before installing Hikvision DS-7104HGHI-M1, export footage that must be retained from an existing system. Follow the manual when mounting the disk and connecting power. Initialise storage using the supported recorder menu and check the disk status before enabling the final recording schedule.

Verify the complete system

When setting up Hikvision DS-7104HGHI-M1, connect and label the camera runs, then check each channel in daylight and after dark. Set the correct clock and time zone so exported clips have useful timestamps. Check audio with a compatible camera where sound is required, and verify a saved recording rather than only the live display.

Configure remote viewing through supported management tools and protect the administrator account. Test event notifications in the actual scene and document any mode restrictions. Keep access limited to the people who operate the system and retain a clear record of the final camera assignments.

Frequently asked questions

Is 1080p Lite the same recording format as full 1080p?

No. The input and encoding formats are different. Check actual recorded detail at the selected profile.

Can it accept a 10TB HDD?

The linked /T datasheet lists one SATA drive up to 4TB. Do not assume the limit of a different recorder applies.

Can it use the four BNC inputs plus five IP cameras?

No. The maximum five IP channels involve converting analogue channels. Plan the actual analogue/IP mix before ordering.
